Choice Theory
The basis of Choice
theory teaches each boy how their decisions and choices affect their lives
and the lives of the people around them.
Boys learn to channel their energy from destructive to
constructive. Through our
rewards based system, they learn to not only be responsible for their own
choices, but also to help those in their immediate community by speaking
up. We teach boys to
“help” those around them remember to think their actions through and
make better decisions, at the same time as they learn to accept that same
assistance. Once they learn
this, they are able to excel in life and in school.

Individual Academic Plans
Our education program is
fully accredited thru the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools and
individualized to each student.
Our educational system emphasizes small groups, one-on-one help and clear
Student Plans. Each student is evaluated upon enrollment and a
Student Educational Plan is created that best serves that student; because
of this our students are able to learn even if they have struggled in the
past. Competent Teachers and aides make every effort to help each
boy excel. Students who struggle are given plenty of support.
It is possible for boys who are behind to not only catching up, but to go
beyond their grade level. We encourage mastery of each course.
The E.R.A. academic program works on a year round basis, allowing us to
accept students at anytime, and because we are fully accredited, all classes
completed while at Elk Ranch Academy transfer back to each boy's home
school, making the transition that much easier.

Family Restoration
One of the founding
pillars of
E.R.A. is the “Family Restoration” process.
Elk
Ranch
Academy
by design is not just a program for troubled boys; our goal is to help
bring families back together. The
family unit is important and family restoration is a key ingredient to
each boy’s eventual success. Parents
are given tools such as insight into personality differences and how
these differences affect communication.
Parents are also guided in creating a “Family Covenant” to help
in clearly setting out a plan for what will be expected when boys return
home. These and other
tools are designed to help insure that both the boys and their parents
will be better prepared for their sons’ return home.
This is just one of the important aspect of
Elk
Ranch
Academy
that separates us from other programs.
